Explain my pay stub and spot anything that looks wrong
Help me understand my pay stub. Ask me to share a recent one (I can remove my name and ID numbers first). Walk through every line in plain words: gross pay, each tax, retirement and benefit deductions, and net pay. Compare the hours, pay rate, and deductions against what I tell you I expect, and against an earlier stub if I share one, and flag anything that changed or looks off, like missing overtime, a deduction I didn't sign up for, or the wrong tax withholding. Give me a short list of questions to ask payroll if something seems wrong. Don't contact anyone for me without my OK.
