{"case":{"id":"4np7fdzr4fqz","prompt":"I'm building a bookshelf and want to buy and cut materials once, without mistakes.\n\nHere are my plans, sketch, or measurements: paste dimensions or attach a drawing.\nMaterial: 3/4 inch plywood. Sheet or board size I can buy: 4 x 8 ft sheets.\n\n1. List every part with its name, quantity, and finished dimensions. Flag any measurement that looks inconsistent or missing and ask before guessing.\n2. Account for blade width and any joints (dadoes, rabbets, overlaps) so the parts actually fit together.\n3. Lay out the parts on the stock to waste as little as possible, and tell me how many sheets or boards to buy with a small spare margin.\n4. Give me a shopping list: material, screws or fasteners, glue, finish, and any tool I'll need.\n5. Finish with a step-by-step build order and a short safety note for the tools involved.","createdAt":"2026-10-13T13:36:00.638Z","upvotes":37,"title":"Turn a DIY build plan into a cut list and shopping list","tag":"self","apps":[],"template":"I'm building {{project: a bookshelf}} and want to buy and cut materials once, without mistakes.\n\nHere are my plans, sketch, or measurements: {{plans: paste dimensions or attach a drawing}}.\nMaterial: {{material: 3/4 inch plywood}}.
